Databricks managed Delta (ADBC)

The direct-streaming route into Databricks.

The direct-streaming route into Databricks managed Delta, reached through the ADBC driver instead of the SQL Warehouse path.

Capabilities: Sink

What it does

Writes into managed Delta tables governed by Unity Catalog — the same target as Databricks managed Delta — but ingests Arrow batches over ADBC into a staging table and merges, skipping volume staging entirely. This is a self-contained sink and needs no separate Output Format.

Configuration

  • Workspace URL
  • Catalog + schema — the target namespace, set on the connection
  • Authentication

Each transport writes to catalog.schema.<table>, where the catalog and schema come from the connection and the table name is per-transport, with its own write policy (append, overwrite or merge).

Notes

Choose the ADBC route for lower-latency, streaming-style loads; choose the SQL-Warehouse variant when you prefer volume staging and COPY INTO / MERGE.
